KYE is a menswear brand which soon added womenswear, with a streetwear kind of style. The brand started in 2011 when its creator, Kathleen (or Han-hee) Kye, graduate from Central Saint Martins, debuted in London Fashion week. Her fame grew as she joined “Concept Korea”, a collaboration of multiple designers initiated by the Korean Ministry of Arts, Culture and Sports in order to participate to New York Fashion week. Since then, she has been featured in Vogue’s “New Talents”, and TV shows such as “Project Runway”. Kathleen Kye won Samsung Fashion Design Fund in 2014 to help her keeping on creating and holding runways. KYE also gained popularity amongst Kpop fans for dressing idols such as G-Dragon, 2NE1 and 4minute.

KYE shows very bold designs from its launching until now, but the collections became more fashionable as time passed. What I particularly like about the brand are its patterns and fun.

FW 11 King Kong inspired collection she created after a dream

As a matter of fact, the FW 12 was really cool as it mixed grunge and streetwear with this touch of fun she made a KYE signature.

SS13 collection makes me think about Jean-Paul Gaultier so much… Maybe because of the navy tatooes and rebelious feel. What do you think?

FW15 collection; I feel like KYE gained maturity and still I don’t know how to express it. The brand kept its concept and individuality but it’s more subtle…

Lastly, the most recent collection available on the website, the SS15 collection. Maybe inspirational for this summer!
